Higher Education Events
It is our aim to bring academic institutions into the 21st century with a solution that is both simple to use and powerful enough to manage registration for any type of event on campus.
We have worked closely with academic organisations and event planners who work for higher education
The University of London uses Symphony to plan its international graduation ceremony each year. This presents the organisers with a unique set of challenges, including processing payment, managing capacities on the event, and collecting dietary requirements from delegates for the evening meal.
Different organisations and events need different categories for submissions. Reviewing submissions can become complicated, especially with multiple reviewers and teams. Reviewers need to review abstracts easily. Send out your call for abstracts with the Symphony email module. Customise your abstract submission form and set categories for marking. Decide what information reviewers see. Give reviewers access to score and comment on submissions. Export reports and mark whether speakers have been approved.
If you are organising a fundraising event, you want to show your delegates the great projects your university is working on and present photos and information in a clear way on a dedicated site. You can also use the Symphony email module to send out invitations and post-event follow up emails, so they can stay up to date. Our contacts database will also mean that you can see which events your delegates have been to in the past, and whether they agree to be contacted by your team in future.
Seminars and Conferences
The programme is what will make any academic seminar or conference successful. With Symphony you can send out your call for abstracts and invite speakers directly via our online campaign module. You can also upload speaker profiles and itineraries to your event website, so you can attract attendance. If you want users to register their interest in a session, or networking event, you can offer this on your registration form.
Your alumni is your institution’s most powerful ambassadors. Not only do they provide a valuable source of income, but they can provide practical support to staff and students, as well as raise awareness of the University in general. Keeping an up-to-date record of each alumni member, as well as their occupation and contact information is vital, which is why we have included a Contacts database within our system, so you can keep track of correspondence and see which events an alumni member has attended in the past.
First impressions count, which is why you need to create an enjoyable and memorable experience for prospective students and their families. This starts with the information you send to attendees and organisers. With so many tours and events running across campus, delegates need to know where and when the relevant talks are for them. This is why Symphony includes a session management system, so you can send delegates information on the talks they need to attend. After the open day, you can send out emails and surveys to follow-up from the day and measure the success of the event.
Running Events for Other People
If you are running an event for a different department or organisation, you need to be able to update different people on the progress of your event, through finances and delegate sign-up numbers. With Symphony you can give your client a login, so they can see this information. You can also send them a URL to preview your booking form or website before it goes live, so you can get their approval. All this means that you can provide your client with the answers they need with no cost on your time.
In order to plan for the best venue and best catering, you need to have information as early as possible on delegate numbers and dietary requirements. With Symphony’s online registration forms, your delegates will be able to specify dietary requirements and select their menu choices. Organisations will also be able to book whole tables and make group bookings.
For graduations and academic conferences, you may not want to open up registration to the general public. In these cases, you can create a booking form that requires each user to have their own login key to access the site. You can also create booking forms where registration is pending and you need to manually confirm delegates before they can attend, keeping you in control.
